DESCRIPTION:Get educated early to help make good choices for the full seaso
 n. The AST 1 course is designed by Avalanche Canada to suit the needs of r
 ecreationists. Prerequisites: ability to thermoregulate outdoors in the wi
 nter and the intention to try backcountry skiing or snowboarding\, and be 
 a member of the Alpine Club of Canada -Columbia Mountains Section. Gear re
 quirements: 3 antenna transceiver\, metal/not plastic shovel\, and 3m prob
 e\, warm clothes and food for standing comfortably outdoors for hours (not
 e: 2 beacons\, transceivers\, and probes are available to borrow from the 
 ACC section: indicate on the registration form if needed). Cost: $155 Regi
 stration is first come\, first served\, and 5 spots will be reserved for p
